MKS-1 SLS Multifunctional Space Launch System by Oscar Vinals

MKS-1 SLS Multifunctional Space Launch System, just like its name suggests, it can be used to launch wide variety space rockets. You probably can guess the designer behind this project, yes, the one and only, our friend, Oscar Viñals. You can read his explanations about his latest project below:

Currently/Today, the only way that we know to launch Vehicles or “payload” into Space or at Low earth orbit (suborbital), is using a Rocket which takes off from land place and reaches the pre-selected “objective”. Depending on their “payload” specifications, it is necessary to use a Rocket with special size and features.

The MKS-1 SLS is a concept plane with multifunctional uses, designed like a “Launch-Support” for many different Space Rockets or Special Space & Suborbital vehicles; thought to reach their objectives, decreasing today’s costs for launching into Space, these “payloads” with smaller Rockets and lesser fuel, and minimizing the non-reusable parts.

Versatile, adaptable for special Ovi’s rocket (equipped with supersonic wings, all controlled by Intelligent Flight Control System (IFCS)) with NASA’s CM (Crew Module), NASA’s Ares I evo rocket (with “special wings”), ESA’s Vega evo rocket (with “special wings”), NASA’s X-43a experimental vehicle with “special rocket”, Aurora SR-91 experimental vehicle, REL’s (Reactions Engines Limited) Skylon experimental vehicle, XLDron M Gravity mass Space Tourism and more potentials “payloads”.

It would have a high carry up capacity and thanks to a special support system with configurable anchorages, over guide rails on top of the fuselage, adaptable for many different types of “payloads”. Built with ultra-resistant advanced Composite materials (carbon laminate, carbon sandwich, activated carbon, aluminum, titanium, and more…) capable to resist big fatigue, stress and “mechanic efforts”; all of this with a low density and in some sections from the plane these would have the extra-capacity to resist highest temperatures.

The MKS-1 SLS would have an auto-generator electric energy system from heat energy conversion and from combustion of liquefied natural gas (LNG) -also used for turbofan engines mixed with conventional combustible-; to keep the avionic systems and the rocket’s combustible temperature in optimal conditions. It also would have a Hyper lift mechanical system -HLMS- to create a dynamic air flow controlled by fly-by-wire system (FBW) and aircraft-computers to prevent a possible stall situation.

Equipped with 11 future Next-Gen’s plane engines, 8 ultra high bypass turbofan engines -UHB- localized on the wings structure in double units (B-52 Stratofortress) and 3 engines with adaptive versatile engine technology -ADVENT-localized under fuselage structure in central disposition, used only at takeoff maneuver and in the “detaching phase” like an extra-thrust to reach the right altitude (45,000-50,000 ft).

Nivach concept electric motorbike has been designed with intention to develop a new eco-friendly electric vehicle with replaceable power supply. This motorbike features bold design language inspired by street fighters, racing bikes and American muscle cars from 60's, and still this motorbike looks futuristic and unique, but recognizable.

The main goal of this project is to come up with a concept vehicle that features replaceable batteries, it will certainly reduce the cost of production and repair. This also means you can recharge your motorbike in 10 minutes, simply by replacing discharged batteries with "fresh" ones.

Tri-Go Scooter by Tobias Windsor-Wayland

The Tri-GO scooter features a top speed of 28mph with a range of up to 31 miles equivalent to a 50cc engine. The compact trike scooter comes with a removable 48V 10Ah lithium-ion battery that takes 2 hours to charge from any standard socket from your home or office. The Tri-GO is very compact and light, ideal to squeeze in and out everywhere.

The aim of the concept was to provide a new method of transport for people who live and work in cities that travel many short distances. The Tri-GO will prevent people using petrol engine cars as this is a cheaper and more convenient way of transport to use, reducing their carbon footprint.

The scooter has been designed in the eyes of the Fiat 500 implementing the success of the car and into the Tri-GO. The locations of the electric components have been placed for an optimum weight distribution. The Tri-GO scooter includes a brushless hub motor situated at the front wheel and suspension at the front and back for comfort. Braking is entrusted to disks front and rear. Also, a smartphone dock has been added to the handle bar to allow the rider to use a sat nav.

Alienware MK2 Project : A Futuristic Vehicle That Is Grown Rather Than Built

Alienware MK2 Project is a futuristic Alienware vehicle that is grown instead of built. Will this even be possible? Well Stanford's engineers have successfully created biological transistor, it's only a matter of time before we start to create biological machines. Anyway, you can read below Shane Baxley‘s explanations about this awesome concept.

The project started last year during my senior term at Art Center College of Design while working on my Apple Car sharing service thesis project. The entire term I had been drawing clean, pure vehicles which was something new for me but one night the itch to design something crazy became too much. So I asked myself, what would an Alienware car look like? Alienware computers are the antithesis to the Apple aesthetic. That night I came up with a general direction and have been tweaking the design ever since as one of my side projects.

In theory this Alienware vehicle would be used for racing in the distant future where vehicles are ‘grown’ rather than built. The driver would sync to the car through his or her suit and the vehicle itself would be one large computer. This is not beyond the scope or reality, engineers at Stanford were recently successful in creating the worlds first biological transistor, thus opening the doors to biological computers. Grown vehicles will definitely be the ‘way of the future’, I just hope we get their sooner rather than later.

The Business Flag is a business card holder that looks like a flag. There are four magnets on the top of the Business Flag that you can use to attach a card to the pole. You may use as much magnets as you need to hold the business card.

There is a flat part of pole to hold a business card on the upper middle of the body which is available in various colors and materials depending on the situation. Place the Business Flag on your office desk, it looks pretty cool, however, we can see the problem right away, the magnets are too small, the pole would become useless if you lose all those magnets.

Skoda Kite Electric Car Concept Was Inspired by Sport Kite

Skoda Kite was a school project to come up with an electric vehicle that represents the characteristic of ecological and agile driving system. The car should be iconic yet easy to recognize as part of Skoda brand, therefore, it features some characteristics of Skoda.

The main design was inspired by the effectiveness and dynamic aesthetics of sport kite. It has unique trunk opening system while the durable textile along with flexible construction provides practical partial opening as well as trunk space expansion possibility.

Lamborghini Egoista Concept Car to Celebrate Lamborghini’s 50th Anniversary

Spectacular supercar called Lamborghini Egoista has been designed by Walter De Silva, the Head of Design for Volkswagen Group, to celebrate Lamborghini's 50th anniversary. As Italian, De Silva feels pretty attached to Italian brand, therefore, he wanted to pay homage to and highlight the fact that Lamborghini cars have always been made with pure passion. If you take a look at Egoista, you'll notice a jaw dropping car which is forged from a passion for innovation and solution, the same principle used that set Lamborghini apart from other automakers.

Be selfish and enjoy this sophisticated vehicle alone, this car has only one seat, so you don't have to share with other people. De Silva explained that this car was made for one person only, so that they can have fun and express their own personality to the maximum. Dedicated for hyper-sophisticated people who constantly looking for extreme and special things in the world, it's the next level of hedonism , a car without compromise because it's so selfish (egoista).

The debut of this concept supercar was pretty spectacular, cinematic entry combined with 9 big screens in the room. Powered by 5.2-liter V10 engine, the car roared and shaked the 20-meter tensioned event structure. The cockpit features futuristic appearance, and once again inspired by the world of aviation, it can be ejected in an emergency situation.

The upper part of the vehicle does not have aerodynamic appendages, but rather flaps integrated in the bodywork profile which acts automatically depending on the driving conditions. Two rear flaps activate automatically at high speeds to increase stability, while a series of air intakes on the back of the engine hood provides the cooling air flow to the powerful V10 power plant. While the front of the vehicle has a profile intended to increase downforce, the rear is fully open with the mechanics in view, reducing weight but also with the result of creating a more aggressive look.

The exterior is characterized by two fundamental aspects: its architecture, and the materials used. The design is determined by a highly muscular structure, in which empty and solid areas fit together with strength and vigor. The bodywork is dominated, on its sides, by the stylized profile of a bull preparing to charge, its horns lowered. The bull is driving towards the front wheels, conferring a futuristic dynamism and lines which are already, in themselves, highly aggressive. Naturally, this is a homage, a bold stylistic citation which can only be a reworking of the Lamborghini brand icon, the well-known raging bull. The challenge of efficiently inserting the Lamborghini symbol as an integral part of the bodywork was met courageously and artistically. The plan view reveals a trimaran profile, where the central hull forms a unique section with the cockpit, underlined by the carbon-fiber cover on the front hood.

The cockpit’s interior is extremely rational, its functionality taken to the extreme. There is a racing seat with a four-point seatbelt, each strip a different color, the airbags, and the bare minimum of instruments. The focal point of these is a head-up display, typical of jet fighters. To get out of the vehicle, the driver must remove the steering wheel and rest it on the dashboard, open the dome with an electronic command, stand up in their seat, sit down on a precise point of the left-hand bodywork, then swivel their legs 180 degrees from the inside of the cockpit to the outside of the vehicle. At this point they can set their feet down and stand up. Even in getting out of the vehicle, the Lamborghini Egoista requires a pilot more than a driver, a real top gun.

GIUSEPPE : The Next-Generation F1 Machine Concept For 2025

We just got design submission from Jaemin Park, GIUSEPPE concept racing car is the next-generation F1 machine for 2025. You can read the designer explanation about this concept car here:

This is the next-generation F1 machine design for the 2025 Mercedes AMG Petronas team. F1 racing is a sport in which the driver runs the car very fast up to 300 km/hour, I thought that machine's stable posture is important during driving. Two independent flexible bodies are applied to this machine, instead of the front wing, and downforce is produced from the inside of the front wheel. It maximizes aerodynamics more than the existing F1 machine and has a wide overall width. Therefore, this machine has two independent front bodies which minimizes air resistance, by narrowing the width for extreme speed during high-speed driving, and maintains a stable position, by widening it again in a normal course.

It’s Definitely Not a Jet or An Airplane

No, it's not a jet, actually it's a MusicMachine or you usually call it a music box. It's so awesome that you won't recognize it at first sight, it has all the traditional, time-honored elements just like you will find in high-end music box, but this time, the designer has decided to drastically design this music box to become something unconventional and awesome. It's the result from a collaboration between MB&F and REUGE, so you can expect nothing less from them. It has dual propellers and twin silver cylinders attached on sleek and slim outrigger landing gear, it really does look like a futuristic jet.

Each cylinder of MusicMachine can play 3 tunes, the left one plays "Star Wars" theme, "Imperial March", and "Star Trek" theme. The right side plays "Another Brick in The Wall" by Pink Floyd, "Smoke on The Wtar" by Deep Purple, and "Imagine" by John Lennon. Pretty cool and awesome, heh? Heal Station for diabetics combines blood pressure, pulse, and blood sugar. The blood pressure module has drawer to keep a cuff which can be fitted around patient arm and engaged with a press of a button. User can slide open the top cover to the left and install a fresh lancet into the lancet port then slide the cover back into place. Insert the blood test strip into the strip port, gently hold the finger over lancet port and press the "Lancet" button to get the blood. To test the pulse, position both of your index fingers on the upper side of the module and place both thumbs on the indentions on top the station. Hold this position for about 10 seconds, and the test will be completed. The result can later be sent to healthcare provider for quick assessment.

Well, the company claims that you can use this carbon fiber sled on both hard compact snow and soft-powdered snow, unlike those wooden sleds that you can only use to run down a subtle slope laden. It's not a children's toy, it's been built to provide serious adult fun, just like skiing and snowboarding.

Glass Street Sign is an innovative project designed specially to help pedestrians to cross the street. User can activate the sign when needed by pressing the metal sensor, then wait for about 10 seconds to give other drives time to slow down, we kinda hope the designer would use another light as a warning during this process. In the morning, this street sign gets its power from the solar panels installed at the top, the sensor detects night time and it displays glowing red light during the night. Hopefully this sign helps reducing the numbers of accident victims.

Analog watch is not the style of Tokyoflash, but if they decided to make one, I would like to see Cassini Analogue Watch concept. Designed by Samuel Jerichow, this concept watch splits time display into 2 sections using several ring segments. It works just like traditional analog watch but nothing says traditional about this cool design.

There are 2 groups of 4 ring segments where one group to inform you about the hours and the other group for minutes. Each group consists of 4 half ring segments, with a little cursor to point you to the current hour and minute in analog precision. Don't you just love those thin lines that flow continuously through the straps? Giving this watch an elegant appearance.

We've seen Pluck Yolk Extractor which allows you to separate the yolk from egg white effortlessly, now we've found another tool that gives you the same benefit. It's actually a whisk with a twist. Separating yolk from egg white can be easy for Martha Stewart, but for me, I usually end up creating a mess in the kitchen. Cracking egg carefully and then pouring the yolk and egg white from one half shell to another, this is what I usually do. But this whisk concept seems making the process easy. This project integrates 2 functions in one, separating and stirring, a whisk with yolk separator, pretty smart idea, don't you think?

Green Dynamite brings you green explosion, don't worry, it doesn't hurt a bit. This project is actually a plant pot as an alternative to boring pots which exist in the market today. Those boring pots often are accompanied by sophisticated patterns and decorations or enhanced with expensive electronic solutions that will soon discourage you from keeping the plant and the pot.

This project allows you to plant your favorite self-watering plant inside the ceramic pot which then you can continue placing it inside the glass container filled with water so that the plant can feed itself. There's a fuse made of nylon cord which will absorb water through the plant's root itself, just like the fire runs through to the explosive body of real dynamite. The plant will absorb water contained in the glass slowly, that's why you need to fill the glass container again after several days.

This is a laptop stand that takes up near zero footprint on the desk, freeing up the desktop real estate. This is achieved by the desk clamp design. It is also adjustable in ways to suit different sizes of tabletops. It is tilt-able to angled laptop position, adjustable height, extendable depth.

Retractable holder is used to hold the laptop in angled position. The hole openings on the back can be used for better and neater cable organization. And non slip material is used for padding in contact to the base of the laptop.

Tuk Tuk is a unique traditional transportation that you can find in many Asian cities such as Bangkok, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, etc., unfortunately, they also contribute to urban pollution and high fuel costs. Terra Motors have an idea to replace this vehicle with an electric version, it will certainly reduce polluting vehicles on the streets. This eTricycle features blue-and-white color scheme, modern and stylish version of the old Tuk Tuk. It is powered by a lithium-ion battery which can travel 30 miles/hour for every 2-hour charge. The overall dimension is just less than 11-feet long and steered with handlebars, well, just like the traditional one.

The company is hoping to be the world's top eTricycle maker since there's not one company in Asia that mass produces these types of vehicles.

Open mirror is a unique mirror that you can use to hear music by connecting it to your music player or smartphone. Thanks to its advanced sensor based interface, you can control the music without touching the screen. When in stand-by position, the mirror features a full oval shape. The shape is divided in the lower part by a line of light that suggests the direction of the decomposition of the figure. The sliding movement reveals the functions of the product. The docking station comes out and a different light starts to illuminate the area where the sensors are active.

Open Mirror can be controlled by hand movements and let the user make basic interactions with the music or video player of compatible devices. Move your hand from right to left and vice versa and get forward and backward song control. Stay in the middle or right position and make the volume down or up. Stay on the left position and play or pause the music (see images on the left). Physical computing gives a new approach to the discipline of HCI (human computer interaction). People are more skilled in moving their bodies or hands in the space than grasping mouse or keyboards or touching displays. Natural gesture is a way of giving input that humans already know by their common experience.

The sensors detect human gestures and the software interprets and decodes their complexity, generating a consistent output through various actuators.

Salva Faucet was born out of the idea to save water while adjusting water temperature. The designer explained to us that his inspiration came from the moment when we unconsciously left faucet running while adjusting the water temperature, at the same time, we're wasting a lot of water. The knob looks like an exclamation mark when turned on, it also works as a reminder that you are leaving the water running. Using this faucet, you are forced to turn off the water in order to adjust the temperature because it would be really hard to turn the knob while still at "exclamation mark" mode.
