It’s obvious what inspired this. I want it. I want it bad. The TRON Lamp uses bioluminescent polymers to emit the kind of glow Hollywood spent millions of dollars in Special FX. The light intensity can be set by rotating the disk. Power is transferred via brush contacts on the outer copper ring. Clever and very production ready.Designer: Loris Bottello----------Yanko DesignTimeless Designs - Explore wonderful concepts from around the world!Yanko Design Store - We are about more than just

Supermachine Studio in Bangkok, Thailand, is a group of four multitasking architects that team member Pitupong “ Jack” Chaowakul describes as “small office – big projects.” “We work like guerrilla designers, everyone does everything, constantly shifting,” he told TCH. Supermachine’s latest achievement is the interior design of two floors of one of Bangkok University’s new four-storey buildings that form the new, spectacular Landmark compl

Spice up the art of cooking with these delightful salt ‘n peppers shakers called the Samba!  Akin to playing the maracas, these shakers bring back the fun-element in cooking. Handcrafted in fine bone china, they come in three versions and two finishes: salt and pepper, salt and chilli or sugar and cocoa; in red or black silicone rubber seals finishes. My pick is the sugar and cocoa in black!Designer: Ingrid Ruegemer----------Yanko DesignTimeless Designs - Explore wonderful concepts from around

The Curv is the space saving, environmentally friendly solution for the 21st century home. The changes in housing market, particularly the reduction in the size of living accommodation, has seen a growing need for adaptable, space saving, multi-functional furniture. Inspired from the space-age furniture styling of the 1960’s, the Curv is a modern adaptation that fulfils the needs of today’s society. The Curv’s elegance stems from the simplistic concept of providing two types of furniture from an

It’s time to move on and discard phone alarms and clocks! This is the new age people; we need cooler and hipper gear like this Alarm Pillow! It gently vibrates at the given hour, to wake you up with a buzz. And if you don’t get out of the bed, your head-weight acts as the snooze trigger. How awesome is that! The label-trigger is clever and fitting, I so need this for my sleepyhead daughter!Designer: Seung Jun Jeong----------Yanko DesignTimeless Designs - Explore wonderful concepts from around t

You know you’ve got to hang your clothes up when you want to attain full fashion victory, right? Well you DO. And to do it, you’ve got to have the most flight-ready hangers. There is only one way. The “Hangar” hanger from Chetan Sorab. It’s shaped like an airplane. Inspired from early World War aircraft, made mostly for kids, but also for me, because I love it.A couple other uses – one, you could give these to your kids while you’re doing the laundry fo

That’s what it is! That’s what’s going on here. It’s a fantabulous audio system and it’s totally amazing and it’s totally big time. Big time I say! It’s the Vocia Red-1, Vocia DSP Servers, and Vocia WR-1. What you need for that next album from your favorite band… I dunno, what do you listen to.. let’s say SLAYER. You can slay all night long with this super combo from James Owen Design and Biamp. The Vocio RED-1 has the super-simple interface

90% Magnetic Scissors is an awesome tool for folks who go snip-snip all day. The scissor-head houses power-magnets in their internal seam, which uses the repel action to cut an easy snip. A good thing is that you can change the poles at the flick of a button, to keep the blades locked into place. Apparently 90% of the force used for cutting is sourced from the magnetic power, and 10% comes from your end. Easy cut-cut I say!Designers: Sang-in Lee & Yun-je Sung----------Yanko DesignTimeless Desig

Inspired by the brass monkey used on ships to stack cannonballs is this flexible rubber mat called the Fridge Monkey. It’s designed with ridges to hold beverage bottles and cans into place, so that you can build a steady pyramid out of them. The clever little design works well with almost any bottled or canned drink. The only problem I foresee is that homes like mine don’t allow for bottles to be in the fridge for so long, they get consumed as soon as they are bought! So building bottles pyrami

Not for cooking! Nay. This kit is for first aid. Lots of first aid! Certainly the most triangular of all the sets that I’ve seen, that’s for sure. This “First Aid Support Kit” by Kristine Erdman is rough, tough, and full of all the red-and-white gear you’ll need straight out of the trunk (or boot, depending on where you’re coming from) of your auto. This set keeps in mind that the majority of the people who provide fellow citizens with first aid have no idea

Most photographers use a sturdy camera strap while clicking pictures and here’s an idea that wants to capitalize on it. This is done by making the strap solar-savvy! Meaning, adding thin solar films across the width of the strap, so as to harness solar energy when out on the field. Aptly christened the Solar Camera Strap, it’s a neat idea; when we can have solar panels on backpacks and what not, then why not on a camera strap! Designer: Weng Jie

The Page Chaser is a flexible bookmark that automatically marks the page as you turn them. Ordinary bookmarks can fall out and require you to correctly mark where you left off. Why waste all that precious brain power on something so mundane? The Page Chaser catches every page as you turn. It’s an incredibly simply design that never falls out. Cheap, easy to manufacture, and handy. Win in my book. Designer: Hyeon Joo Lee
