Born out of the essence of the earlier Water Block bench, the Invisibles collection by Tokujin Yoshioka for Kartell is evocative of finely chiselled ice sculptures. When the studio met the challenge of creating industrial products in such a thick acrylic, Kartell launched the collection of tables and chairs amidst Snowflakes, an installation designed also by Yoshioka for the occasion.

Hundreds of transparent plastic prism sticks brought an ice storm to the windows of the Kartell Gallery in Via Turati where the Invisibles nestled in a sort of winter fantasy.

The idea behind the Invisibles is that the user appears to be floating, but it is impossible to ignore the presence of such imposing furniture, despite its light and transparency.

Yoshioka's desire is that the light reveals the form of the furniture, coaxing it out of invisibility.
