apartment renovation Tastefully Renovated 19th Century Apartment Exuding a Classical Eclectic StyleThis former Communist home was renovated by interior designer Judit Koczoh in collaboration with Beck Real Estate Kft to create a beautiful, practical, and energy efficient apartment. There were virtually no original features to be saved due to neglect and destruction during the Communist era. So the designers created this crib from scratch using talented workmen and carpenters and by moving 100 year old ceramic kitchen tiles from another apartment in the same building. The style is classical eclectic, reflecting the belief that renovated apartments in 19th century buildings should respect the aesthetic spirit of that era, while being updating with stronger doses of color in the furniture and accessories. beautiful renovated apartment Tastefully Renovated 19th Century Apartment Exuding a Classical Eclectic StyleDesign was driven by a desire for old world elegance with a dose of color in furniture and accessories to protest against the monochrome sterility of so much modern design. The apartment includes one bedroom, two bathrooms, a very large kitchen and the hallway. Special features include small doses of elegant wall paper in the kitchen next to the entrance and also in the study alcove that is part of the living room. In addition, the designers restored three 1940s armchairs with bold color, two in the living room and one in the bedroom. ideas renovated apartment Tastefully Renovated 19th Century Apartment Exuding a Classical Eclectic Style There is a “green angle” to the apartment. A special emphasis was placed on energy efficiency to minimize CO2 emissions and the cost of living in the flat.  Workmen installed triple-glazed PassivHaus certified windows. These windows keep the apartment warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Since the apartment is air tight to minimize heating costs, the designers installed a PassivHaus ventilation system that brings fresh air into the house 24/7/365, monitors air quality, purifies the air, and maintains humidity at an appropriate level. The power cost is only 7 USD a month.
