Part of the East Side Home Tour, the La Canada Residence is located in the La Canada/Flintridge area. (fer) studio did the renovation of the existing cottage ranch style home and turned it into the contemporary residence that it is today, all while adding a master bedroom suite. While maintaining the traditional pitched roof, the home is now a modernized ranch that you wouldn’t necessarily expect in California.

The main goal was to open the house up on the inside, as well as the outside. Situated on a tree-filled lot, the back part of the home is filled with windows to let as much light in as possible, while also giving views to the landscape and pool. The new bedroom suite sits to the side of the new courtyard, which is also right outside of the living room.
