2/3 of the world population have no link to professional architecture, it means 4.400.000.000 of people has not relation with academic knowledge of architecture. This book tries to explain how this knowledge can come to everywhere of our planet and how it can support to improve the lack of quality of life for natural disasters or social conflicts of millions of human beings.

The book Architecture for Humanitarian Emergencies shows an academic experience: The workshop 5×5 inCopenhagenin January 2010.  5 humanitarian problems in 5 different countries and continents on the world:

1 Floods in Chokwe,Mozambique,Africa

2 Volcano eruption in Chaitén,Chile,Latin America

3 Earthquake in L’aquila, Italy,Europe

4 Civil war in Sri Lanka,Asia

5 Climate Change in Maldives Islands,Asia

These 5 works show a large spectrum of problems can be improved with architecture. In each case we show the Government strategy, generally it is without or with few presence of architecture, and afterward we present a possible architectural project strategy. In every case we can find new solutions from the architectural knowledge, it can help to open new ways of solution or mitigation of these problems each time more frequent.
